Instructions

Prepare the Baking Trays

  1. Line 2 large baking trays or plates with parchment paper and set them aside. This helps prevent sticking and makes transferring the Oreo balls much easier once coated.

Crush the Cookies

  1. Add the chocolate sandwich cookies to a food processor or high-speed blender. Pulse until the cookies become very fine crumbs with a soft, sandy texture. Transfer the crumbs to a large mixing bowl.

Make the Filling

  1. Add the softened cream cheese, vanilla extract, and sea salt to the bowl with the cookie crumbs. Use a hand mixer or sturdy spatula to combine everything until the mixture becomes thick, smooth, and evenly blended.
  2. Gently fold in the popping candy at the very end. Mix lightly so the candy stays intact as much as possible.

Shape the Oreo Balls

  1. Use a small cookie scoop or spoon to portion the filling into evenly sized balls. Flatten each portion slightly in your palm, add a small pinch of extra popping candy in the center if desired, then gently roll into smooth balls.
  2. Place the rolled Oreo balls onto the prepared trays. The mixture may feel slightly soft at first, which is normal.

Chill the Oreo Balls

  1. Transfer the trays to the refrigerator and chill the Oreo balls for 60 minutes until firm. Chilling helps the truffles hold their shape and makes dipping much easier.
  2. If you are short on time, place them in the freezer for about 20 minutes instead.

Melt the Candy Coating

  1. Place the red candy melts in 1 microwave-safe bowl and the blue candy melts in another. Microwave each bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring well between each interval until the coating is fully melted and glossy.
  2. Stir in a small amount of coconut oil if the coating seems too thick.

Coat the Oreo Balls

  1. Using a fork or dipping tool, lower each chilled Oreo ball into the melted candy coating until fully covered. Tap the fork gently against the side of the bowl to remove excess coating.
  2. Place the coated Oreo balls back onto the parchment-lined tray and immediately decorate with sprinkles and sanding sugar before the coating sets.

Add the White Chocolate Drizzle

  1. Melt the white melting wafers in a small microwave-safe bowl in 20-second intervals until smooth. Transfer the melted coating to a piping bag or spoon and drizzle thin lines over the coated Oreo balls.
  2. Allow the drizzle to set until firm and glossy.

Chill Before Serving

  1. Place the finished Oreo balls back into the refrigerator for about 10 minutes to fully set the coating. Serve chilled for the best texture and popping candy effect.

Note

Store the Oreo balls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.

For the strongest popping candy effect, serve within the first 2 days.

If the candy coating thickens while dipping, reheat it briefly in the microwave and stir until smooth.

Freezing the Oreo balls for 20 minutes before dipping can help create a cleaner candy coating finish.
