Honey Baked Ham Sliders
These warm, buttery honey baked ham sliders are an easy way to use leftover honey roasted ham, especially the day after Easter. The sweet rolls stay soft, the cheese melts into a glossy layer and the mustard butter glaze adds rich flavour. Everything bakes together in one pan for a quick lunch or simple family meal.
Ingredients
Instructions
Preheat the oven
-
Heat the oven to 350 degrees. Line a baking dish with foil so the rolls lift out easily after baking. Lightly spray the foil with cooking spray to prevent sticking as the cheese melts.
Slice the rolls
-
Use a serrated knife to cut the entire sheet of Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally so you have one large bottom layer and one large top layer. Each layer stays connected side by side. Lift the top layer in one piece and set it aside. Place the bottom layer into the foil lined baking dish.
Layer the ham
-
Spread the sliced leftover honey baked ham evenly across the bottom layer of rolls. Cover the entire surface so every slider has a tender layer of warm ham. If some slices are thicker, place them toward the center so they heat evenly.
Add the cheese
-
Lay slices of Swiss cheese over the ham, overlapping slightly so they melt into a smooth, glossy layer. Gently press the cheese and ham to flatten slightly, this helps the top layer of rolls sit level during baking.
Mix the glaze
-
Melt the butter in a microwave safe bowl until fully liquid. Stir in the Dijon mustard, poppy seeds, dried minced onions, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper. The dried onion softens in the warm butter (small visible pieces are normal and help flavour the rolls).
Brush the glaze
-
Place the top layer of rolls over the cheese. Brush the butter glaze generously across the entire surface, letting some run down the sides. If some collects at the bottom, that keeps the sliders soft and prevents dryness.
Cover and bake
-
Cover the dish tightly with foil. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes until the cheese has fully melted and the center feels warm when gently pressed. Keeping them covered prevents early browning.
Uncover and finish
-
Remove the foil and bake for 3 to 5 minutes more until the tops turn lightly golden. If your oven runs hot, begin checking after 2 minutes to avoid over browning.
Rest and slice
-
Let the sliders rest for 2 minutes so the cheese settles. Lift the foil out of the pan, transfer the sliders to a cutting board and slice into individual pieces using a serrated knife. Serve warm.
